What cookies are
Cookies are small text files a site stores on your device, or similar storage such as localStorage. They can remember a choice (for example, whether you accepted optional analytics) or help us see which public pages are used. They are not a student record and they do not log you into a membership area — this site has no account system.
Types we use
Essential. Required to remember your cookie preference and to keep basic page behaviour working. These are set when you choose Accept or Reject on the banner, or when the site stores that choice so the banner does not return every visit. Rejecting optional cookies does not block courses, forms, or reading.
Analytics (optional). Used only if you press Accept. They help us understand aggregate traffic to laboratory pages such as the Signal Atlas and the flagship syllabus. We do not use them to build advertising profiles or to remarket to you on other sites.
Cookies table
| Name | Purpose | Duration | Provider |
|---|---|---|---|
| agent-routecore-cookie-consent | Stores whether you accepted or rejected optional analytics so the banner can stay hidden. Essential for honouring your choice. | Until you clear site data or choose again (localStorage) | Agent Routecore (first party) |
| ar_session_hint | Short-lived hint used only to detect repeat views of the same page during a single browsing session for basic error diagnostics. Not used for advertising. | Session (expires when the browser tab set is closed) | Agent Routecore (first party) |
| ar_page_views | Optional analytics count of laboratory page views (home, courses, Signal Atlas, notes). Set only after Accept. | 6 months | Agent Routecore (first party) |
| _ga / similar | If we enable a privacy-respecting analytics tag after you Accept, this identifier distinguishes browsers for aggregate statistics. Not loaded if you Reject. | Up to 14 months, or shorter if the analytics tool is configured that way | Analytics provider acting for Agent Routecore (third party, only if enabled and accepted) |
How to manage or disable cookies
Use Accept or Reject on the banner the first time you visit. To change a later choice, clear localStorage for agent-routecore.digital (or clear cookies/site data for this origin in your browser settings) and reload; the banner will appear again. You can also block cookies entirely in your browser or use a tracking-protection mode.
Browser controls differ. Look for “Cookies”, “Site data”, or “Tracking” in Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge settings. Device-level advertising or privacy switches on iOS and Android can further limit identifiers. Clearing site data will also forget your stored consent until you choose again.
Third-party cookies
This site loads fonts from Google Fonts and images from a public image host. Those requests may allow those providers to see your IP address and referrer. They are not our analytics cookies. If an optional analytics provider is enabled after you Accept, that provider may set its own cookie as listed above. Embedded meeting tools used during a live bench are separate from this public website and will be named in your joining note.
Impact of disabling
Rejecting optional analytics, or blocking cookies in the browser, does not stop you reading pages, opening courses, or sending the enquiry form. If you block all storage, the consent banner may appear on every visit because we cannot remember the choice. Some third-party font or image requests may still occur unless your browser blocks them; layout may fall back to system fonts if font requests fail.
